Sasha Mills

“IT’S AS IF MY WORLD HAS GRADUALLY TURNED FROM A WELL-ORGANIZED 3D STRUCTURE INTO A FLAT, CHAOTIC 2D UNIVERSE. THIS IS IT, I’VE MADE IT. I’M TWENTY ONE YEARS OLD AND I’M RENTING A LOVELY ROOM, AND I HAVE AN OFFICE JOB AND A FANCY PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME.”

“Feeling liquid” is an auto-theoretical essay based around a series of personal and mortifying moments grounded in the writer’s experiences of long-term antidepressant use. Throughout her vignette structure, Mills is able to communicate a profound sense of spiralling, disillusion and coping that comes as an unwanted by-product for motivation and ambition in an increasingly alienating professional world.
